How to Overcome the World is the story of Pierre quot;Petey quot; Miller, an awkward, troubled 14 year old boy whose world spends out of control upon the death of his grandmother Mae, with whom he had an enormously close bond. After attempting to cope, unsuccessfully, with Mae's death, one day Petey finds himself transported to a parallel world where she now lives, only as a young woman with a different name and identity.
