In his billet doux, Sir Bill reminisces about times past when life was a little bit slower.
Unfortunately, we think he's put his rose coloured spectacles on. Twenty years ago, I was working for a corporate reseller and Bill Gates, Philippe Kahn, Jim Manzi of Lotus, a parrot called Ashton-Tate and Wordperfect were going hammer and tongs against each other to grab market share in the then up-and-coming PC market.
The rest is history. Bill used to swing round from time to time and deliver his shared vision although the vision of the corporate reseller I worked for was to deliver shareholder value by flogging software at margins of between 65 and 70 per cent.... > Read the full article .
